Creative Active Lives

Through our work with care homes providing care home activities, and the Alzheimer’s Society, we saw a need for affordable, accessible activities that would improve quality of life, social interaction and physical and mental stimulation in care home settings, activity groups and areas where older adults faced isolation and loneliness.

We created the CreativeActiveLives programme.  Our team of dedicated instructors have a wealth of talents and skills that we were able to bring together to offer a package of interactive, engaging, and most of all fun activities that work for seated and mobile adults of mixed abilities including people with dementia and Parkinson’s.

Our instructors are trained in safeguarding, emergency first aid and dementia friend training, and hold an Enhanced DBS.

We can provide:

  • Seated and mobile circus skills sessions, with a programme developed with an Occupational Therapist who specialises in older adults and people with mixed abilities.
  • Seated and Mobile Yoga
  • Dance Therapy
  • Memory Box Arts & Crafts
  • Dance for Parkinson’s
  • Sand Arts
  • Sensory Bubble Sessions
  • Hula Hooping (for mobile participants and adapted moves for seated participants)

Client Testimonials

Rachel came to teach my 18 strong brownie pack (plus four leaders) to hoop dance during one of our regular meetings. The pack range in age between 7 and 10 and their hooping experience goes from a self styled champion hooper to brownies and leaders who couldn’t hoop. Rachel took time to work with each brownie individually and by the end of the evening all of the pack had learned a routine, nailed some cool hula tricks and had a really good time. I can’t fault Rachel’s enthusiasm, or her ability to relate to the girls, and I don’t think there is anyone she can’t teach to Hula – I may be biased because she taught me. I thoroughly recommend Rachel and her hoops for a fun brownie or guide evening.

Our centre arranged for Rachel to provide 12 sessions of hula hooping to adults living with mental health issues. From the moment Rachel first came in, with her bubbly smile and enthusiasm, we knew that people would really enjoy the sessions and get so much out of them. Some were worried that they could not do it or their health issues would be a factor but once they had all had a go, they realized how fun, simple and entertaining it was. People would leave with a smile on their face and feel that they had had a good physical workout. The sessions were so popular that we hope to be inviting Rachel back to do more sessions with us soon.
